Built in Bookcase Design Challenge

The space in front of our tiny built in bookcases has been a challenge for some time. As you'll remember the sofa used to live here but has since found a new home on the other side of the room. So now the big question is - what do I put here that will look inviting and functional while still showing at least some of the bookcases?

    Both Megan and I like the first set up the best. The second option with the couch is kind of awkward, and what is that black thing in the third?!

    That black thing is a table from West Elm! I agree #1 looks best, but I just thought of something else - check out the lounger I just added. I think it's money!!
