Podcast Episode #5: Coronavirus, Social Distancing and Beating Scarcity Mindset

This week, we talked about things impacting us all in this moment, COVID-19, the climate of fear, and scarcity mindset. With no toilet paper in almost all stores, we are all on edge. With food shelves emptying, we are in survival mode. While this is natural, the stress responses associated with the crisis in the world are not healthy for us! We chat about some ways to help beat the stress and create a serene environment (and mindset) at home.

1. Beating Scarcity Mindset
Fill containers on kitchen counters and in pantry of household staples (rice, sugar, flour etc). Toss almost empty products and start a new bottle or tube of personal care products. An almost empty tube of toothpaste creates feelings of scarcity, and this is the last thing we need right now!

2. Create Special Mini Moments
Carve out time for special traditions that elevate the everyday. Hot cocoa after playing in the yard or popcorn in the late afternoon. Try fancy Friday dinners with candles and a pretty table cloth. Maybe even out on some makeup and dress up! Have Friday movie nights and rent an in-theater movie from Amazon (Emma & Onward are both released!)

3. What We are Digging to Pass the Time at Home
If you are looking for some TV shows to provide inspiration for this style, I highly recommend Grand Hotel on Netflix. It is in Spanish with subtitles and I would describe it as a more dramatic, scandalous Spanish version of Downton Abbey. You must go check it out! I promise if you like Downton Abbey you will love it. The costumes and set are absolutely breathtaking. And yes, the show has lots of rattan furniture and long, flowing romantic dresses on the cast members to boot.
