Easy Cheese Danish
I love cheese danish, love it! But not the soggy ones from a hotel continental breakfast. So, I set out to create my own version at home.
- Package puffed pastry, thawed (preferably Dufour)
- 8 ounce container organic cream cheese
- Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 cup organic cane sugar
- 1 egg & 1 egg yolk
Soften cream cheese in a bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Combine cream cheese, vanilla extract, egg yolk and sugar in bowl until well mixed.
Cut puff pastry into squares on a work surface.
Score each square with a knife to create a 1 inch border.
Spoon a scope of the filling into the center of each puff pastry square.
Mix 1 egg with 3 tablespoons water to create a basic egg wash. Brush on pastry crust.
Lay out puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
Bake 15-18 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes & serve!
